It's been a big season for proponents of drafting Travis Kelce early in the first round or second-tier tight ends like T.J. Hockenson or Mark Andrews in the first four rounds. Only one popular preseason sleeper has really broken out (Sam LaPorta), and many of the third-tier or fourth-tier tight ends have disappointed. Oh, and now the bye weeks are here to thin out the depth even more. As you can imagine, our Week 5 fantasy TE PPR rankings aren't overly eye-pleasing after the top few guys.Fortunately, the first byes of the season only took away one TE in the top-12, and that's the TD-dependent (read: fluky) Donald Parham Jr. All of the usual starters are still in play, but based on how disappointing many have been this season, their owners might still be scouring the rankings (and waiver wire) for a replacement.Is that the right move or should you stick with your starter? We break down fantasy's most frustrating position ahead of Week 5.MORE: The Browns (David Njoku), Seahawks (Noah Fant), Buccaneers (Cade Otton), and Chargers (Gerald Everett, Donald Parham Jr.) are on bye this week, which is as good as it's gonna get for fantasy owners during a four-team bye. None of these TEs are regular starters, and none of these defenses are particularly Harrison Butker Jersey bad against TEs, so enjoy this relatively harmle s bye week.WEEK 5 STANDARD RANKINGS: | | | | | Travis Kelce (@ Vikings in Week 5) is No. 1 in our rankings, and until he's on bye, he'll likely remain there. T.J. Hockenson (vs. Chiefs) is close behind, with Sam LaPorta (vs. Panthers), and Evan Engram (vs. Bills) rounding out the top four.It's highly unlikely you'll be sitting Mark Andrews (@ Steelers) or George Kittle (vs. Cowboys), but both have tough matchups and haven't exactly been consistent this season, especially in terms of targets. Engram is also in a tough spot matchup-wise, but he sees steadier targets, making him virtually impo sible to sit in PPR leagues.WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS: | | | | As we start to get a better picture of favorable and unfavorable matchups, it's easier to spot potential sleepers. It's important to remember that one bad game can really skew a defense's numbers, but at this point, it's the best we have to go on.Tyler Higbee (vs. Eagles) is usually on the start-sit bubble, but he's a better play than usual this week against Philadelphia's last-ranked TE defense. Hayden Hurst (@ Lions) faces off against the second-worst TE defense entering Week 4, though Detroit boosted its ranking by shutting down Green Bay's TEs after Luke Musgrave (concu sion) exited early last Thursday night.If Musgrave (@ Raiders) comes back this week, he should catch a lot of balls against Vegas's soft pa s defense. Zach Ertz (vs. Bengals), Dalton Kincaid (vs. Jaguars), Logan Thomas (vs. Bears), and Dalton Schultz (@ Falcons) -- all of whom see a decent number of targets most weeks -- also square off against defenses that entered Week 4 in the top 10 in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.WEEK 5 FANTASY ADVICE: | | | Aside from Andrews (@ Steelers) and Kittle (vs. Cowboys), Pat Freiermuth (vs. Ravens), and Hunter Henry (vs. Saints), and Jake Ferguson (@ 49ers) also face unfavorable matchups. All remain high-floor options who will be tough to JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey sit, especially in PPR, but it's fair to at least consider benching them depending on your other options. You might not have the option to start or sit Freiermuth, as he figures to be questionable (at best) because of a hamstring injury.Dallas Goedert (@ Rams), who's disappointed this year despite relatively decent targets since Week 1, also looked like he had a tough matchup ahead of Week 4, but the Rams were just torched by Indianapolis' TEs, so Goedert's outlook is a little better than it initially appeared.WEEK 5 DFS: | | | The biggest TE injury to watch this week is Luke Musgrave, who suffered a concu sion early in Week 4's game against the Lions. Virtually every player who enters the concu sion protocol mi ses at least one game, but since Musgrave (@ Raiders) was injured during a Thursday night contest, Travis Kelce Jersey he has a better chance of suiting up this week.Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) and Juwan Johnson (calf) also exited early in Week 4 and look to be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 5.
